About Us

Biomerix Corporation is recognized as a leader in the development and manufacturing of innovative porous polyurethane materials. The Company’s expertise includes the development, co-development and supply of new proprietary materials, products and components to customers in the medical, industrial and consumer industry markets.

Biomerix’s material technology is comprised of a novel, non-degradable cross-linked, reticulated, elastomeric polycarbonate polyurethane-urea matrix. The Biomerix Biomaterial™ consists of an open-cell, three-dimensional, interconnected microarchitecture, which has demonstrated an ability to support robust fibrovascular tissue ingrowth and biointegration with the surrounding defect site in multiple preclinical studies.

Key advantages of this non-degradable material include biocompatibility, biostability, compressive resilience, and material consistency.  The material can be customized to meet specific requirements for density, pore size, and biomechanical properties, including tensile strength, compressive strength, and viscoelasticity.  To date, four devices utilizing the material have been cleared by the U.S. FDA, European Union, and Canada for indications including peripheral embolization, soft tissue repair, and rotator cuff repair.

Biomerix also offers a degradable materials technology based on a cross-linked, reticulated urethane matrix. This formulation has varying degradable copolymer soft segments, which can be customized to offer different degradation profiles, ranging from three months up to two years, depending on the need of the application.  The urethane material consists of an open-cell, three-dimensional, interconnected network of cells and pores.

All of Biomerix’s products are manufactured from proprietary processes and a broad selection of material choices, both of which enable customized performance. The Biomerix Biomaterial’s unique structure and chemistry impart differentiated benefits including high porosity, excellent resilience, long-term durability and superior chemical compatibility over current polymeric materials. It is these advantages that make the Biomerix Biomaterial a compelling alternative for potential medical, industrial and consumer applications.
